〈2024〉Ways to spend time during winter vacation, “Domestic Travel” and “Visiting hometown” were tied for first place

This time we did a research on winter holidays and vacation of 2024.
More than half of the respondents answered that their winter vacation budget per person is “50,000 yen or less”.
Have you decided how you will spend your winter vacation this year? For those who have already made plans, they might be spending the time with their family or friends, taking a trip to the Hot springs, or enjoying winter sports and many more.
For that winter vacation, we conducted a survey.
First, we asked respondents about their plans for winter vacation. As a result, “domestic travel” and “visiting hometown” were tied for the first place. After that, “sightseeing/excursions on a day trip” was the next most popular ways of spending time during winter vacation.
Next, we asked to those who answered “I have plans for this winter vacation.” about their plans. Based on the results, “The first shrine visit of the new year”, “hot springs” and “events/festivals” were the TOP3 at 35%, 27.1% and 14.5% respectively. And when we take a look at “the first shrine visit of the new year”, “hot springs”, and “winter Sports”, which are the most popular activities during winter vacation and year end and New Year, “the first shrine visit of the new year” and “hot springs” were the TOP 2, with 8.9% for the “winter Sports”.
And, when we asked the respondents who answered “I have plans for this winter vacation.” about their “average budget per person”, “10,000 yen～29,999 yen”, was the top answer. Which is more than 30% of the total. The second most common answer was “30,000 yen～49,999 yen”, accounting for 20% of the total.
If we add the percentage of “10,000 yen～29,999 yen” and “30,000 yen～49,999 yen” the result will be above 50% of the total.
We found that more than half of the respondents estimated their winter vacation budget at “10,000 yen～49,999 yen”.
Also, If we include the respondents with the answer “less than 10,000 yen” it will become 65%.
From the above results, we came to know that the people wants to enjoy their winter vacation in a budget friendly environment.
